| Mark2 Armrest Assembly Instructions |
CRITICAL: Read these instructions completely before doing anything to your car.
You will need the following tools:
Place cupholder console on solid flat surface. Position the Mark2 Armrest onto the console, engaging the "key" into the aft cupholder.

Be sure armrest hinge is exposed on the console (i.e.: hanging down). I recommend that you place a piece of cardboard under the armrest at the back of the base. This will ensure that you do not drill the holes for the hinge too low. Drilling the hinge holes too low will result in the front of the armrest to stick in the air. A thin piece of cardboard from the back of a pad of paper will work fine.

Turn the armrest and the cupholder upside down as shown below.

Position the armrest hinge side-to-side so there is an equal console space on each side of the hinge. This is a critical step. If you do not position the hinge correctly, the Mark2 will not open and close properly. Remove the backing on the double-sided tape on the hinge and press the hinge on to the console. The tape will hold the hinge in place when you drill the holes for fasteners.
Using a 5/32" diameter drill, drill through the first console surface only, at only the 2 outside hinge holes (do not drill the center hinge hole). Try to drill at the center of each hinge hole. Do not drill too deep or you will put holes into the storage area of the cupholder console. NOTE: The drill will tend to "walk" on you and throw the bit off center. You can use a smaller bit to drill a pilot hole that will make the 5/32" bit stay in place and on center. If you do not have an electrical drill, you can buy a Wal-Mart "Handiworks" HW1152 electric drill for $15.88 plus a 5/32" drill bit.
Insert each nutplate into the console. There are several visual indicators to help you position the nutplates. Note that the nutplates are not interchangeable. Note the following visual indicators when you position the plates:
1. The white side of the nutplates should face outwards (towards the rear of the cupholder). The foam strips/black sides will face towards the center of the cupholder.
2. If you are looking at the back edge of the upside-down cupholder console, the "L" plate goes on the left-hand side and the "R" plate goes on the right-hand side.
3. There are arrows on the lower edges of each nutplate. The arrows point together when positioned correctly.

Position each plate behind the holes you just drilled as shown and align the threaded holes. Screw in and tighten firmly the 2 #8-32 screws provided. We show flat-head screws in our instructions. Your screws will be philips head. Make sure the tops of each nutplate are parallel with the bottom edge of the cupholder. This is critical for strength.

That's it! You are now ready to re-install your Mark2 Armrest/Coinholder-cupholder back into your car.
The front edge of the coinholder-cupholder has a plastic tab. This tab mates with a slot that is in your center console behind the hazard light button. Drop the front edge of the coinholder-cupholder in before the back edge. Make sure the tab on the coinholder-cupholder goes into the slot on your center console. After the tab is mated, drop the back edge of the coinholder-cupholder down into the recess in your center console. The unit will sit flush.

A properly installed Mark2 Armrest will look like this:

Coinholder-cupholder should sit flush on center console
It is critical that the armrest sits flush with the center console. Open the Mark2 Armrest and expose the storage area. If the storage area of your coinholder-cupholder has a carpeted floor, remove the carpeting. There is one philips head screw that fits into a hole on the floor of the storage area. Install the screw. You're done!
